EXHIBITION - DOCK 11 - BERLIN

graffiti mapped visuals portraiying a fusion of analog - and A.I. generated art

The artpiece explores the fusion of human and artificial intelligence using art as an exemplary field. The graffiti is based on the poem "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" by Goethe and is being extended with artificial intelligence generated images via "Projection Mapping". These AI generated images keeps getting out of control, destroying the harmony created by the artist's imagined graffiti. Through this way, the work metaphorically raises questions about the collaboration between humans and Artificial Intelligence, about authorship, control and lack of control.

Goethe's poem is about an inexperienced sorcerer's apprentice who overestimates his abilities. He uses a spell that develops its own will and he is ultimately no longer capable of controlling it. Only his master is able to prevent the greatest disaster. The artwork points to the fact that we possibly lack the authority to undo thoughtless actions - to prevent a point of no return, when it comes to experimenting with artificial intelligences.
